Rosemary Butts

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rosemary (LaFrance) Butts which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 17th, 2021, surrounded by family. Born in 1948, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel (Hodgin) LaFrance. Along with her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by her husband Thomas and brother Joseph. In terms of family, Rosemary is survived by her loving son Jason Butts (Julie) of Saint John; her cherished grandson Zachary; brothers Ken, David and Ray LaFrance, sister Ruth Logan, siblings-in-law Max (Fernan) and Richard (Phyllis) Butts, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rosemary and Tom loved to party and hang out with friends. Rosemary cherished her flower gardens and travelling to PEI and St. Andrews. She loved watching golf (a huge fan of Tiger Woods), TV shows and movies (the scarier the better!). Halloween and Christmas were her favorite! She enjoyed decorating for holidays and hosting family gatherings.

Rosemary worked in retail at Kmart. She was a manager at D’Allaird’s and was promoted to Regional Manager for the Atlantic Provinces, all while keeping her store at top sales and taking care of her family. She later worked at Sears for many years until her retirement in 2017.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Wednesday, July 21st, meeting at Fundy Funeral home at 2:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rosemary may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, to the charity of the donor’s choice, or plant a flower or tree.
