Rose M. Lewis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Marie (Lockhart) Lewis, which occurred on Monday, January 23rd, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1942, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Percy and Sadie (Fisher) Lockhart.  Rose, better known as “Rosie” to all who knew her, was 1 of 13 children.  She enjoyed find-a-word puzzles, reality tv and she cherished special memories of camping days and various trips that she went on with her family.  Rose had a heart of gold, she was always there for her children and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her son Jeff Lewis; daughter Kim Conde; brothers Ronald Lockhart (Shirley), Gordon Lockhart (Fern), Kenny Lockhart, David Lockhart (Esther); sisters Mary Breau, Marjorie Cummings (Bev), Gloria Furlong (Floyd); grandchildren Christy, Matthew and Lisa; great grandchildren Robbie and James; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband Stanley, daughter Christina, infant sister Annie May; sister Audrey (Walter) and brothers Dougie (Helen), Walter (Joyce) and Russell.

A special thank you to the staff of SJRH for going above and beyond during our mom’s final days.  Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, January 27th from 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place in the Fundy chapel on Saturday, January 28th at 11 a.m.  Interment will be held at Port Lorne Cemetery, NS in the spring.  Donations in memory of Rose may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
