It is with sadness, yet heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, that the family announces the passing of Ronald Joseph Alexander Daigle on December 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Ron was the beloved son of the late Alexander and Delina (Breau) Daigle.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his children, Janice Daigle-Perry (Kevin) and Mark Daigle (Nicole); his cherished grandchildren, Alicia (Dave), Matthew, Andrew, Nicole (Daniel), Curtis, Isabella, and Sloane; and his adored great-grandchildren, Daxen, Poet, and Anna. He is also survived by his sister, Odette Hurley; brothers, Ralph Daigle and Al Daigle; brothers-in-law, Stan Okopien, Ron Oliver, and Bill (Rolande) Oliver; sisters-in-law, Donna Daigle and Mary (Jim) Ryan; along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Ron was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Lorna Daigle, whose presence remained with him always. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Carmel (Gerard) McCaig, Helen Okopien, and Evelyn (Pete) Lavoie; brothers, Carl Daigle and Gerald Daigle; brothers-in-law, Vern (Evelyn) Oliver and Gene Hurley; and sisters-in-law, Marina Oliver, Angela Daigle, and Cindy Daigle.
Ron served the community of Saint John as a dedicated firefighter with the Saint John City Fire Department, retiring in 1995 with the rank of District Chief after many years of loyal service. He formed lifelong friendships through his career on the fire department and had immense respect for the brotherhood it brought.
Ron was a member of the Alpines Softball Team, which was inducted into both the Saint John Sports Hall of Fame and the Softball New Brunswick Hall of Fame. Known for his exceptional eyesight and sharp instincts, Ron earned the nickname “The Hawk” for his ability to always keep his eye on the ball.
Ron greatly valued the friendships he made through the fire department, sports teams, dart teams, and his time at the Adanac. Some of his happiest moments were spent at his cottages in Buckley’s Cove, surrounded by family and friends. Ron grew up in east Saint John, raised his family there, and he was a true “East-sider”. Together, Ron and Lorna were known for their warm and welcoming nature, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and hospitality—memories that will be treasured always.
Above all, Ron was a devoted family man. His legacy is one of strength, courage, loyalty, faith, and unconditional love. He met life’s challenges head-on, rarely complained, and lived with gratitude and generosity, always giving his very best to those around him.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital and Shannex in Millidgeville for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Ron.
