Roderick "Roddy" A. H. MacDonald

Roderick “Roddy” Alexander Harry MacDonald passed away on March 10, 2023. Born in Baddeck, Cape Breton, NS on June 11, 1969, he was the beloved son of Alexander “Sandy” MacDonald and Margaret “Peggy” (Fownes) MacDonald.

He was a loving father to Jessica MacDonald (Brandon) and Alicia MacDonald of Grand Bay, NB. Roddy is also survived by his brother Murdock (Jaylee) MacDonald, nephews Marcus and Alexander MacDonald of Woodman’s Point, NB, Aunts Mabel St. Amour, Jeanne (Eric), Lindsay, Marianne MacDougall, Uncle Jimmy MacDonald, along with several cousins.

Roddy spent his early years in Cape Breton, eventually moving to Greenwich Hill, NB in 1976. He attended UNB Saint John and graduated as an apprentice Boilermaker (Local Lodge 73) from NBCC Moncton. Roddy worked in the Boilermaker trade up until his death as a journeyman, foreman and general foreman.

He loved the outdoors, hockey, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, golfing; he did it all with a contagious smile and laugh. Roddy also loved to travel across Canada, the USA, Scotland, and the Caribbean – he loved the sun.

He will be sadly missed and forever loved by his parents, daughters, brother, family, and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 between the hours of 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be celebrated from the Fundy Chapel on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

Donations in Roddy’s memory may be made towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
