Robert Toner

Robert Wesley “Bob” Toner passed away at home on Monday, April 8, 2019. Born in Saint John on March 29, 1954, he was the son of the late Borden and Phyllis (Wallace) Toner.  Bob worked for Labatt Breweries for 17 years and later went on to work for himself, owning and operating various businesses over the years.

Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years Lee Ann (Cox) Toner of Saint John; daughters Patricia Toner (Shay Purdy) of Ottawa, ON and Lori Morrison (Michael) of Calgary, AB; two grandchildren; sister Denise Clarke of Hampton; nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sisters Marie London and Helen Beaulieu, and brother Greg Toner.

Bob had a love of music, especially when friends performed, and enjoyed the many hours he spent in his “Juke Joint.” He was a generous man who focused much of his time lending a hand and helping someone in need.  He could often be heard saying to others to “pay it forward,” a belief he lived by.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Sunday April 14, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A private family service and committal to be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.  Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
