It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Bruce Morrison on June 16, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Sussex, NB on March 15, 1959 to John Angus “Gus” and the late Jane (Dixon) Morrison.
Robert was a hard-working man, who started working from a very young age. He was a meat cutter for a long time, starting in Hampton and then continuing when he moved out West. He eventually changed professions and developed his skills as a Boilermaker, working for over 10 years in the trade before returning to the East Coast. Although semi-retired, he still would do odd jobs for others. Robert had a real green thumb and loved to tend his flower gardens. He was an amazing cook; he loved to fish and play darts. It always amused everyone how heavy he liked his darts to be as opposed to most everyone else who like the lighter weighted darts. He loved movies and music and ensured that his children were raised in a household where there was always an endless selection of various genres of music to listen to and appreciate. He was very funny with a boisterous laugh and sense of humor. Robert was a family man who adored his children and grandchild. He was taken far too soon but left a lot of lasting memories behind him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his son, Channer (Kirk) Morrison and his daughter, Sarah (Mike) O’Brien; cherished granddaughter Kylie and the new baby on the way; brother, Harvey (Carolyn) Johnston; best friend, Robert Van Der Linden or “Uncle Vando” as he was known to the family, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Robert’s wishes, there will be no services held at this time. For those who wish, donations in his memory to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
