With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Robert (Bob) Fergus, who left us peacefully on December 7th, 2025, at the SJRH Palliative Care Unit. He was 87 years old.
Born on May 6th, 1938, Bob lived a life defined by love, loyalty, curiosity, service, and pride in the family he and his wife built together. His greatest devotion was to his cherished wife of 65 years, Betty Ann Fergus, the love of his life and his constant companion through every adventure. His greatest joy—and the thing he bragged about most—was his family.
Bob was a proud father to two children:
• His son, Kevin, and Kevin’s wife Angela Fergus, and their children:
– Josh and Sarah Fergus, and their four children: McGregor, Maddison, Maverick, and Myla-Wrenn
– Samantha and Tim McIntyre, and their children: Hudson and Levi
• His daughter, Kim, and her husband Rob McIsaac, and their five children:
– Kate and Brad Wilson, and their children: Ryan and Alyssa
– Vicki and Jonathan Rickard, and their children: Liam and Rowan
– Matthew and Ariana McIsaac, and their daughter Paisley
– Jeremy McIsaac
– Jacob McIsaac
Bob also leaves behind many beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-greats, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Bob began his working years at T.S. Simms and spent much of his career on the road as a traveling salesman with Coastal Bearings, a job that suited his friendly nature and gift for conversation. Later in life, he held positions with Kent Building Supplies and the Works Department for the Town of Grand Bay–Westfield, before finishing his career with one of his favourite roles: rink attendant at RVCC, where he proudly drove the Zamboni like it was his own personal chariot.
Bob was also a very proud Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, carrying his service with honour throughout his life.
Bob loved all animals, especially the many dogs and cats that he and Betty welcomed into their home over the years. Together, they bred both Labradors and Beagles, creating even more beloved pets who became part of the family. Bob also had a deep love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting—everything from ducks to bucks—appreciating the peace and tradition that came with it.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob especially loved baseball. He coached Kevin’s teams from little league all the way to senior little league, teaching not only skills but sportsmanship, confidence, and heart. At home, he and Betty were faithful supporters of the Toronto Blue Jays—cheering, celebrating, and sometimes coaching from the couch.
Bob and Betty shared a love for travel and were blessed to enjoy four memorable cruises with Kim and Rob. Their adventurous spirit also shone through in a lifetime of camping—from canvas tents in the 1960s to their final motorhome, which carried them to countless Bluegrass festivals. Music was one of Bob’s greatest passions; he taught himself to play both guitar and banjo and found joy in every song.
He was a talented craftsman and woodworker, and his skill was evident in the three beautiful homes he built over the years. Bob was immensely proud to still be living in his own home at 87, with Betty by his side at 83, surrounded by memories they created together.
Bob Fergus will be remembered for his warm laugh, his unwavering love for his family, his stories from the road, his music, his hard work, his service to his country, his love for animals and the outdoors, and the quiet pride he carried in all that he built—both with his hands and with his heart. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in those who loved him.
Bob was very proud to be Grand Knight of Council 17984.
May he rest in peace.
