Rita M. Almon

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rita Mary (Wisted) Almon, which occurred on Friday, June 17th, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born 1946, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Tom and Rita (Coveney) Wisted.  Rita worked as a secretary for Public Works and many lawyers offices throughout her career.  She was a member of the Big Salmon River Angling Association and held many auctions for the Atlantic Salmon Federation.  She enjoyed camping and was an avid moose collector.  Family was most important to her, she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends and she will be missed by all who knew her.      

Rita is survived by her loving and devoted husband Hughie of 51 years; daughters Carrie Almon and Chella Almon (Gary) both of Saint John; grandchildren Breanna and Abby Cobbett; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with her parents, Rita was predeceased by her brother Tom and her sister Sharon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, June 21st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, June 22nd at 2 p.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Those that are unable to attend, can watch the service live by clicking the following link: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1655745473191106  Donations in memory of Rita may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
