Richard "Rick" Brian Blancher
Born November 21, 1964 - Ingersoll, Ontario.
Passed away at his home on May 30, 2025, in Saint John, New Brunswick.
He was the son of the late Brian Blancher and Rose Marie Hutchison.
He leaves behind his wife Claudette Lynn of 22 years. Sons Shaun Blancher (wife Jenelle, daughter Kinley), Troy Blancher (wife Angela Gifford, their daughters Chloe and Lilly daughter of Lindsey Atherton), Trevor Blancher (his daughter Jorgia and her mother Deanna Young); daughter Savanna Lynn; brother Sean Blancher; uncle Lee; aunts Dale (husband Robert), Penny (husband Seiko), Bonnie (husband Robert) ex-wife Connie Wilkinson.
Rick lived with his parents until he moved to Honduras to live with his father after his parents' divorce until the age of thirteen and was adopted by Wayne and Nancy Walls and graduated at the age of seventeen from New Braunfels High School in Texas. After his graduation from school, Rick flew up to Canada to enlist in the Army at the age of seventeen with his mothers consent and enlisted in Kitchener, Ontario, as a corporal in the infantry. He served 1982-1988 and 1990-1992 where he did tours in Nunavut and Cyprus as a peacekeeper, and Oka, ON, and all over Canada and fought fires in Gagetown, NB. After the forces he became a truck driver from 1993 until May 2001 after being stabbed at a truck stop in Calgary, Alberta, on March 15, 2001. From 2002-2015 Rick worked for Genetic Pork as a Selector and learned about Pork Selection and A.I. Breeding. Rick resided in Hamiota, MB, from 1996-2023. Moved back to Saint John, NB, May 2023 till present with Claudette. Rick met Claudette on Nov. 24, 2003, in Carberry, Manitoba, and where they lived for one year before settling in Hamiota and raising Savanna in Hamiota, MB.
Rick was outdoors from the time he was five and first learned how to ride dirt bikes, a canoe, he was a rafting guide with his foster parents in Colorado. Loved to go fishing, hunting, enjoyed camping, dirt bike races, joined the MDR Manitoba Dirt Races, taught Shaun and Savanna how to ride bikes and entered the races along with him, driving in his Polaris side by side are just a few of the things he loved to do and enjoyed doing them with his family and friends as much as he can over his lifetime. Never a dull moment, always lived his life to the fullest and will be truly missed.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (506-646-2424). A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 from 2 pm - 4 pm. Donations in Rick's memory may be made to Vets Canada.
