Richard Walker Obituary

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Richard Len Walker announce his passing on April 12th, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a short battle with cancer.

The hole that is now left in the family by Ricks passing will never be filled. Rick was the glue that kept everyone together, included and safe.

Every season was Ricks favourite. Snowmobiling, ATV outings, weekends at Martin Head. He and Linda would be gone all day on the CAT to come home with treasures of bottles and cans found on the trails. The joys of spring were gardening with Linda and making sure their home was always in top top shape.

The flower beds and garden always the envy of the neighborhood. The smoke coming from the green house could be seen in late winter- preparing the bulbs and seedlings for spring. There was no project too big or too small for Rick. With each season came a new project, something to look forward to and get busy with. Sometimes the project was for him and Linda but a lot of the time it was for a family member. There was excitement all around when the project got underway. Al hands on deck!

He could build it, he could design it, he could fix it. Never ever did he and Linda pay for work to be done on their home, vehicles and sports toys - he took care of them al. He rebuilt vehicles, moved homes, built furniture, fixed plumbing, and wiring. Can you say Jack of all trades? Yes that was Rick and so much more...

Neighbors relied on him to know what was happening in our neighborhood. Each morning he took his morning drive down the road to check on everything and everyone and at dusk he took the trip again. If you were having a bonfire in your yard, you were sure to have a visit from Rick and be invited to come on down to his place. Bonfires were an open invitation to come and have a drink and just spend time talking about old times and friendships.

Rick had such a joy for life and for people. Rick was truly all about family. Before retirement Rick was employed with the Labour's Union local 900.

Rick is survived by his wife Linda of 47 years his son Ryan, two grandchildren Taylor and Morgan, his oldest brother Wayne (Star), numerous in-laws, nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.

Rick was predeceased by his parents Alma and lan Scoggins, eldest son lan Walker, and brother Billy Walker.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd (646-2424). Donation can be made in Rick's name to Cancer Research.
