Richard J. Shipley

It is with broken hearts and sadness the family of Richard John Shipley announce his passing which occurred on Sunday May 15, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born August 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Albert and Rosalie (Frenette) Shipley. Richard was an Optician and worked many years in Saint John area and was currently employed with Walmart Vision Center- East Saint John. He was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend. Richard was a man who cared for those he loved deeply. He would move mountains when needed and was a light in the lives of those who knew and loved.

He had a passion for wood working and for the Toronto Blue Jays; he enjoyed a game or two and many hours working with wood and puzzle books.

Richard was the heart and soul of the family, those he loved are devastated at this loss. He is survived and will be missed by his loving and devoted wife Anne Marie (Seymour) Shipley; daughter Sheena MacDonald; sons Howie MacDonald and  Micheal Shipley all of Kitchener, ON; father-in-law Clifford Seymor of Glace Bay; several grandchildren and two precious grandchildren; grandson and best buddy Austyn and granddaughter his peanut forever Stevie Lynn; several great-grandchildren; sister Janice Dugay (Len), brothers Tommy (Nancy), Peter (Carol), Micheal (Sheryl), Pat (Theresa) ad David (Jen); several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, co-workers, clients and friends. Along with his parents, Richard was predeceased by his daughter Debbie Hickey; mother-in-in-law Janette Seymour and sisters-in-law Adrian and Marie Shipley.

The family would like to take this time to give special mention to extended family sisters-in-law Arlene Dunwoody and Patricia Fitzgerald and friend and neighbor Dennis Norris for all the care and concern we know how much he loved you all and we so appreciate everything you were a part of.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Saturday May 21 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service to be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday May 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, the service will be available via livestream at the following link: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1653234654185524. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the SPCA.
