Raymond Martin Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family announces the passing of Raymond Joseph Martin on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born on March 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Michael and Annie (Daigle) Martin.

Raymond’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He cared deeply for each of them, always making sure everyone was looked after and had what they needed. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, Raymond loved to make people laugh and continued to do so right to the very end.

Sixty-six years ago, he married the love of his life, Sylvia (Savoie). Together they built a beautiful life and raised a close and loving family of whom he was immensely proud. He was their biggest supporter, faithfully cheering on his grandchildren in all their pursuits.

Raymond was a man of many talents and interests. An accomplished guitar player, he also found great pleasure in gardening and growing flowers, woodworking, and following hockey and baseball.

In his earlier years, Raymond worked as an Engineering Associate with NB Tel for more than 30 years. He was a proud member of the NB Tel Pioneers and was actively involved with the NB Tel Hockey Team as a coach. Following his early retirement, he and Sylvia enjoyed traveling across Canada in their fifth wheel, creating treasured memories along the way. They also looked forward each year to camping and visiting many relatives.

Raymond will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Sylvia; his daughter, Angela Rodgers (Steve); his sons, Darrell (Nancy) and Joe (Joanne); his cherished grandchildren, Tessa, Samantha, Janet, Bradley, Matthew, and Andrew; and his great-grandchildren, Bria and Lucas. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Arcène; his sister-in-law, Barbara; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his brothers, Gerard (Laurinda), Anthony (Edith), and Arthur; his sisters, Delima Thèriault (Auben), Alvina Wilding, Lorena Lacombe (Leon), and Imelda Dumouchell; and his sister-in-law, Lucie.

The family extends heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the 7th floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Raymond and to the entire family. Your kindness and support will always be remembered.
