With his loving family by his side, Raymond Joseph Legere passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on June 22, 1937, he was a son of the late William and Mary (née Chaisson) Legere.
Raymond is survived by his children: Linda (Gene) Sweeney, Tony Legere, and Su-Anne Gray; 8 grandchildren: Ashley, Bradley, Jillian, Deanna, Joshua, Adrian, Rebecca, and Shayne; 9 great-grandchildren: Liam, Carter, Hudson, Avery “Little Girl”, Ollie, Abby, Oaklynn, Olivia, and Julia; sister Doreen Legere; sister-in-law Audrey Legere; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Raymond is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Edith “Edie” Marilyn Legere (née Arbo); son Paul Legere; siblings: Lawrence, Ron, Gerald, Murray, Freda, Evelyn, and Theresa; and niece Wendy Cockman.
Raymond was a dedicated welder who worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family, a role he took great pride in. He was a true jack of all trades who loved building and working with his hands. In his free time, he enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, bowling, and spending time with his family. Raymond loved his family deeply and supported them in any way he could.
He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Raymond adored his grandchildren, and nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with them.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers from Integrity, especially Rhonda, Angie, Katie, Christine, and Cody. They would also like to thank his nieces Brenda McQuinn, who was like a daughter to him, and Carrie Legere, who provided unwavering support during his illness.
