Raymond Henry Obituary

With broken hearts, the family of Raymond Joseph Henry announces his peaceful passing on September 30, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Albert and Appoline (Doiron) Henry.

Raymond’s greatest joy was his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, to whom he could never say no. He will always be remembered for his punctual nature and his familiar reminder to everyone: “don’t be late.”

A hardworking and dedicated man, Raymond took great pride in everything he did. He spent time working in the woods before moving into residential construction, where he established and operated Henry’s Construction and Henry’s Quality Homes. Raymond and his late wife Hazel, owned and operated H & R Variety, fondly known as French Village Convenience.

Raymond loved the outdoors and found peace overlooking the water in Renforth, often starting his mornings there with his first cup of coffee. He was active and adventurous, enjoying snowmobiling, four-wheeling, swimming, and boating. He also had a passion for dancing, traveling, and long drives, and he never missed a chance to enjoy a good party.

More than anything, Raymond was the heart of his family—the one who brought everyone together. His legacy of love, joy, and togetherness will live on in the lives of all who knew him.

Raymond will be deeply missed by his wife of 20 years, Susan Henry; his children Michael Henry (Marianne), Lorraine Henry (Darrell), Sherry Henry (Brian), Linda Russell (Mike), Cindy McBrine (Jimmy); and his stepsons Troy MacGarvie (Sandy) and Derek MacGarvie. He was a proud and devoted granddad to Little Michael, Andrew, Jacqueline, Kassie, Catherine, Kale, Philip, Danielle, Meagan, Emily, Jessica, Evan, and Jack; and step-grandfather to Zachary and Nichalos. He also leaves behind several great-grandchildren, his brothers Donald Henry (Aurea), Norman Henry (Christine), Leo Henry (Theresa), and Gary Henry (Holly); his sisters Mary Bezeau (Peter), Alma Bezeau (the late Cyrille), Shirley Sewell (Darrell), and Jeannine Dupuis (Stephen); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Hazel Henry; his brother, Laurie Henry; and his sister, Dora Robichaud.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424), on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
