Raymond Edwin Barton

The family of Raymond Edwin Barton, lovingly known as “Ray,” are deeply saddened to announce his passing on August 2nd, 2026.

Ray was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, and was the son of the late Ernest and Violet Barton. Ray was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Joan, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, friendship, and family. Joan was the love of Ray’s life, and their many years together were filled with countless memories that will be cherished forever. Ray was a proud and loving father to his daughter, the late Kimberly “Kim” Barton. Kim held a very special place in Ray’s heart, and her memory remained an important part of his life. Ray worked hard throughout his life with local companies such as Leon’s and PepsiCo. He was a proud sports fan, especially of the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. Ray had an incredible memory for sports and could easily recite the details and history of the past 50 years of his favourite teams. Above all else, Ray loved people. He had a kind and generous heart, and anyone fortunate enough to meet him was touched by his warmth, grace, and wonderful smile. He had a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for. His kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. Ray is survived by his brother, James “Jimmy” Barton; his grandson Robert (Rob) Graves; his granddaughter Natalie Graves; and his great grandsons, Connor Graves, Preston Graves, and Parker Graves. He will also be lovingly remembered by close family friends, Myrna Graves and Jana McEahern, his true “buddy.” In addition to his wife Joan Barton, and daughter Kimberly “Kim” Barton, Ray was predeceased by his brothers John, David, Douglas, and Kenneth “Kenny” and sisters, Shirley, Frances, and Donna Marie.
