With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Rayford McIntosh, announce his peaceful passing, which occurred March 15th, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on September 3, 1948 he was the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Whalen) McIntosh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Donley (Marks).
Ray attended St. Malachy’s and went on to graduate from St. Francis Xavier University where he played on the 1969 Rugby team that won the Nova Scotia Championship. He spent most of his working life in the construction industry as an insulator, a member of local 131 Heat and Frost Insulators. For most of that time he worked somewhat humorously with his father Mike. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and storytelling ability.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters; Kari (Andrew) McIntosh of Saint John, Natasha (Dave) Whittaker of Saint John, his son Shane (Diane) Colpitts of Ottawa,, his only brother Mike (Mary Jo) McIntosh of Fredericton, granddaughter Keira Parker of Ottawa, and his absolute best friend and only grandson Spencer (Maddy) McIntosh of Saint John. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Andrew (Debbie) McIntosh of Alberta, Susan McIntosh of Halifax, Michael (Stephanie) McIntosh of Halifax and Joan (Rick) Huskins of Fredericton.
Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held at Fundy Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19th from 6-8pm. A private family interment will take place at Mosher Hill Cemetery, St. Martin’s, at a later date. Remembrances in memory of Ray may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, or of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the loving care that they showed Ray in his final days.
