With heavy hearts, the family of Randolph Howard Beckwith announces his sudden passing on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB, on June 22, 1932, Randolph was the beloved son of the late Fredericka (Dunham) and Clarence Beckwith.
Randy grew up in Milford on the west side of Saint John. He spent his childhood honing his love of woodworking and establishing his strong work ethic by heading outside on Saturday mornings. He often said he would listen for the sound of hammers and head in that direction to lend a hand. Randy dedicated many years of his life to hard work and service. He began his career at McMurray’s Bakery before moving on to F.W. Woolworth’s, where he proudly worked for 34 years, and met the love of his life, Leslie. You could often hear him singing this song about her: “I Found A Million Dollar Baby In A Five And Ten Cent Store”. Known for his love of baking, he especially enjoyed making Long Johns and Petit Fours and his special strawberry tarts for our family gatherings. In his younger years, Randy played in the 102 Manning Depot band at the Barrack Green Armories. Randy had a great love of music and his cheerful whistling often announced his presence, bringing joy to those around him.
A devout Christian, Randy served faithfully at Waterloo Street Baptist Church (Cornerstone) in numerous capacities such as a Senior deacon, Sunday school teacher, custodian, choir member, and assistant treasurer. His faith and dedication to his community were constants in his life.
Randy will be deeply missed by his children: Mark Beckwith (Debbie), Heather Goudreau, and Philip Beckwith (Jill); his brother Victor Beckwith; his cherished grandchildren: Amanda, Andrew (Tiffany), Alex, Matthieu (Tania), Kassandra, Morgan (Chris), and Marissa (John); and great-grandchildren: Oliver, Lincoln, Bear, and Ruby; and his many nephews and nieces; and special friends and neighbours Marlene and Ricky Sullivan and Dale Spence (Lorraine).
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Leslie; son Paul; siblings John, Rupert, Alison, and Margaret Ogden; and his son-in-law, Pierre Goudreau.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.
