Ralph E. Braid

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ralph Ernest Braid, which occurred on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025.  Born on June 5th, 1932, in Saint John, he is the son of the late Frederick and Ellen (Dunham) Braid.  Ralph worked as a meat cutter and grocer at Colwell’s Grocery Store for 42 years.  He was an active member of RiverCross Church and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.  In his earlier years, Ralph was active in many sports including bowling, badminton and pool and he enjoyed attending hockey games with his friends.  He was quick witted with a great sense of humor and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ralph is survived by his loving and devoted wife Flora (Stanton) of 63 years; daughters Cheryl Pazia (Allan), Shelley Smith (Peter), Lesley Anthony (Stephen); grandchildren Kathryn (Martin), Brittany, Owen (Claudia), Nathan (Ashley), Brandon (Faith); great grandchildren Madeleine, James, Kinsley and Kambree; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  Along with his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his brothers Willard, Murray and Ronald,  sisters Ethel, Gertrude and Maude and infant sister Jessie.

A special thank you to the staff and residents of Parkland Carleton Hall Saint John.  Your kindness and friendship will not be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424).  A Funeral Service will take place in the Fundy chapel on Saturday, December 20th at 10 a.m. with visitation being held 1 hour prior to service.  Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery.  Donations in memory of Ralph may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
