Philip Hovey Obituary

We remember and celebrate the life of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully at the age of 85. A quiet and kind man, he lived a life marked by love, humility, and a deep dedication to his family.

In his early years, he was an avid runner and had a passion for healthy living — even teaching Weight Watchers classes to support others on their journey. He loved his dogs dearly, found joy in cooking (and eating), and especially cherished family trips to Prince Edward Island — first with his wife and sons, and later continuing the tradition with his grandchildren, creating memories that spanned generations.

He worked faithfully at Irving Oil for 37 years, later enjoying a second career as a salesman with The Estey Group. He was also a proud and active member of the Masonic Lodges of New Brunswick, where he served as Worshipful Master with quiet dignity and dedication.

At the center of his life was his family. He was predeceased by his wife Sandra (Mullett) of 49 years, and his son Malcom Mark. He is survived by his son Todd (Denise), his daughter-in-law Linda Leyten, his brother Bill Hovey (Rosalynne), his brother-in-law Robert Mullett, and his grandchildren Lauren, Ashley, Patricia Nolan (Kip), Trevor Meldrum and Erica Esser (Travis) as well as his great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Dakota, Nolan, Xander and Bella. Philip was predeceased by his brother Jim Hovey.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506)-646-2424. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 3rd between 4:00-8:00 PM with a Masonic Lodge Tribute beginning at 6:00 PM. A celebration of Philip's life will take place on Friday, July 4th at 11 AM from the Fundy Chapel. Interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations towards the SPCA, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. For those who wish, the funeral will be livestreamed and can be accessed here: Click Here
