Peter Wilson Obituary

With profound sadness, the family of Peter Barnes Wilson, loving husband of 53 years to Lee (Losier) Wilson, wish to announce his passing on March 25, 2020 at Rocmaura Nursing Home after an extended battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's Disease. Born in Saint John, NB, on July 6, 1941, he was the youngest son of the late George (“Pete”) and Rita (King) Wilson.

A Welder/Pipefitter by trade, Peter was a hard and dedicated worker and a 50+year member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 213. However, his passions were his family, sailing and serving his community. He volunteered with the Westfield Volunteer Ambulance Service for 20 years, for the final 7 as Ambulance Administrator and, in earlier years, with the Westfield Volunteer Fire Service. A largely self-taught sailor, Peter loved to be on the water, whether coming in last in a race or socializing with friends from the Martinon Yacht Club. Nothing Pleased him more than when his children &/or grandchildren were aboard. He also loved to travel and shared many memorable vacations with Lee and other family members, and with friends.

Besides his wife, left to mourn are his Wilson clan: sons Scott (Dianne) and Travis (Marise); grandchildren Guillaume (Rebecca), Zacharie, Mireille, Clarisse, Alec, and Noah; and great-granddaughter, Madeline. Peter is also survived by siblings John 'Jack” (Bette), Adelaide Rodgerson, David, and sister-in-law Muriel Wilson. Also Left to mourn are his “other family,” in-laws Lynn (Elmer) Uzans, Grant (Brenda) Losier, Pam (Don) Leaman & Greg (Heather) Losier, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Donald (late Margaret) and James.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the Rocmaura Nursing Home staff on Garden and Trinity Courts for their kind and compassionate care of Peter over his last 15 months in this world. Your dedication to the care and comfort of your residents is truly remarkable and very much appreciated.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), Saint John. Given the current situation with the COVID 19 Pandemic, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A gathering to celebrate Peter's life will be arranged at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Peter's memory may be made to Romero House, Sleeping Children Around the World or a charity of the donor's choice.
