Perry Kokotailo Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Perry Walter Kokotailo, 65, of Saint John, N.B.  Born on February 21, 1959, in Ottawa, Ontario. Perry was an employee of the school board (custodian) for the past 22 years, and worked at Forest Hills School in Saint John, N.B. He passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, June 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Perry is survived by his son: Shaun Kokotailo (Hope); granddaughter: Lindsay Kokotailo; daughter: Jessica Marie Kokotailo (fiancé David Jackson); step sons: Dave Yoston (Melissa) and Jeff Yoston (Sara); mother/step mother of his four surviving children: Kathy Kokotailo (ex wife); as well as sister: Deborah Fouchard (Jim).

Perry was a deeply beloved father, papa, cousin, work brother, and friend.  His passing was sudden and unexpected after a week long battle to try and recover from a massive heart attack.

While we lost our most beloved dad, father-in-law and papa, many have lost a friend and loved one in him.  He has been a rock to many, a lover of fun and humor, and a true friend to all who knew him. Once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him. He has a heart of gold and a love of helping people.

There was so much more to him than just dad, though to us that was his greatest role - he was also a papa, a friend, a coworker and colleague, a cousin, a brother, a handyman, a person who could be counted on day or night, a coffee buddy and lunch date at the mall... the list goes on and on.

We would like to thank Dr. Paddock, Dr. Bewick, Dr. Hansen, the ER department, and the wonderful nurses of the 5th floor Cardiac Care Unit for trying their very best to save Perry and provide him with excellent care while he tried to recover.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM. A Funeral Service will take place in the Fundy Chapel on Saturday, June 22, at 2 PM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery will take place at a later date. The family asks that any donations be made to the breakfast program at Forest Hills School because Perry had a deep love for children and his school. https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/57307/193/False/True
