Paul Cormier

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph Henry “Paul” Cormier announces his passing which occurred peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born on November 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Henri and Claire (Aube) Cormier.

Paul was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring in 1976. Throughout his career he was a part of many peacekeeping missions. Later, he worked for the City of Saint John as a mechanic, specifically on police vehicles.

An avid outdoorsman, Paul enjoyed times spent hunting and fishing. Extremely active throughout his life, Paul was a runner, but more importantly cherished each day which was always spent with his devoted family, especially his grandchildren – family was everything to him.

Above all, Paul was devoted to his faith, loved the Lord, and helped many throughout his life.  

He will always be remembered by his wife of 67 years, Carmen (Staples); daughters Paulette Robertson (Paul), Denise Smith (Mark); son David Cormier; sisters Jean Gallant (Delphin), Joanne LeBlanc (Ernest), Linda Bastarache (Alexander); grandchildren Karla Gagnon, Bryan Robertson, Thomas Robertson, Erin Wright, Matthew Smith; great grandchildren Riley Gagnon, Alexander Gagnon, Isabelle Gagnon, Aryaunna Wright, Mackenzie Smith, Avery Smith, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held from the Fundy Chapel on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
