Patrick McLaughlin

MCLAUGHLIN, PATRICK JAMES MICHAEL – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Patrick James Michael McLaughlin which occurred on Thursday, August 31st, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born 1963, in Saint John, he is the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Hannah) McLaughlin.  Pat worked as a Millwright for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors-hunting, camping, four-wheeling, waterfalling, hiking and spending time with family and friends around a bonfire.  Pat was an avid marksman and gunsmith. He was so proud to mark off of his bucket list hitting a target at 2 miles in June 2023.  He also enjoyed bow & arrow shooting with his grandchildren.  He loved taking long drives on dirt roads, admiring nature, thunderstorms and growths on trees.  Rock “N” Roll music was his favorite, especially the Rolling Stones which was the first concert he and his wife were able to share with their children and his brother and his family.  Family was so important to him, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy as well at the loves of his life. He will be greatly missed.    

Pat is survived by his loving and devoted wife Denise (Gillen) of 35 years married; son Steven McLaughlin of Saint John; daughters Shaunna McLaughlin (Jon) of Saint John, Shannon Ramsay (Dylan) of Quispamsis; brother Danny McLaughlin (Anne Marie); sisters Cathy McLaughlin, Jacqueline McPhee (Dan); aunt Patsy Hannah all of Saint John; adored grandchildren Brooklynn, Bryce and Ella; as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Along with his parents, Pat was predeceased by his brother Donald.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424).  As per Pat’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at The Hope Center (4347 Loch Lomond Road) on Sunday, September 10th from 2 to 4 p.m.  Donations in memory of Pat may be made to the IWK or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
