Patricia Luella Loring Obituary

Patricia Luella (MacTaggart) Loring,  94 passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Tuesday evening March 30th, 2021 with her family at her side. Pat as she was affectionately known, resided at Rocmaura Nursing Home in Saint John since 2011, where she enjoyed the tender loving care of all staff and volunteers. Born at home in Truro, NS; on December 21, 1926; she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Nevin) MacTaggart. Pat was predeceased by her husband Percy Loring; sisters Muriel Fraser and Norma Mason and brother John MacTaggart. In her earlier years of marriage Pat was the homemaker and Percy the breadwinner. She loved her family and was involved in every aspect of Peter and Barbara’s lives. Pat had a zest for life and was very active in the community and Stone Church. She never sat still. Later when the kids where grown she took a position working for Dr. Zed and also worked in the accounting department for Sears. Mom loved helping others and happily supported good causes including being the coordinator of the Christmas Basket and supper outreach programme for children, both at Stone Church and Food Banks in the community. Pat also had the opportunity to serve on mission trips to London, England and Honduras. She was an avid curler, enjoyed her bridge group and used to say she liked to swim in water that flushed itself twice a day. In her younger life, she was quite an accomplished speed skater. She enjoyed the outdoors, painting, gardening, visiting family and of course her two cats.

She will be sadly missed by her son Peter (Gloria) of London, ON and daughter Barbara Loring of Saint John; grandchildren Michelle and Bill; great-grandchildren Marlee (Kyle) and Andrew (Kirsha) and great-great-grandchildren Carter, Lily and Ainsley; nieces, nephews and friends. We want to thank our friends Brian and Anthea Earle who became a huge part of Pat’s Life and were always there to support Peter and Barb. Special thanks to Debbie Collicott and her family who always included Pat and Barbara in Christmas, Thanksgiving and other family celebrations
