Patricia JoAnne Griffith-Grant

It is with heavy hearts the family of Patricia Jo-Anne Griffith-Grant, wife of Richard Grant, announces her passing which occurred unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at her residence. Born in Saint John, NB on March 23, 1953 she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Helena (Fortune) Griffith. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Beatrice Humble (James).

In addition to her husband Richard, she is survived by her sons Robert McGuire (Candace) and Andrew McGuire (Emma); and their father Bruce McGuire, cherished grandchildren Rayanne, Chloe, Benjamin Kailie, Lilly, Evan, Shayla and Seth; brother Calvin Griffith (Heather Steeves); special niece BeeJay Humble (Julia Humble); several nieces and nephews; feline companions Flower & Buster.

From her early days Jo-Anne was very talented musically, playing in a band with her brother and sister, those musical talents would later lend themselves to the worship ministry of the churches she attended over the years. You rarely saw her without a guitar in her hand.  Jo-Anne spent most of her working years in the service of the elderly working as a home support worker. An active volunteer, Pastoral Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital was where she spent much of her time and was active in several women’s groups at the churches she attended. She knew her way around a kitchen and was known for her cooking and baking. Whether it was a family dinner, community or church function, no one walked away hungry.

Her infectious smile and laugh will be sorely missed.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, Saint John (646-2424) on Monday, September 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Her celebration of life will be celebrated from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 14 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Donations in memory of JoAnne may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
