Ottar Hartmann Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Ottar Hartmann announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday August 5, 2020 in the home of his daughter Esther and Robert Noble.

Ottar was born in the small fishing village of Vik, Norway on January 1, 1928.  He was married to Ingrid Ostergaard on April 4, 1953.  They shared many experiences for 62 years before she passed away in June 2015.  Their two eldest daughters, Berit and Kirsten, were born in Norway prior to immigrating to Ontario Canada in 1958.  For the next 8 years they lived in Scarborough and completed their family with Esther, Heidi and Stein.  Ottar was an avid horticulturist and respected carpenter.

In 1972 Ottar moved his family to Belleisle Creek, New Brunswick.  Ottar was a strong, spiritual man, well loved and respected, dedicated to his family and his God, Jehovah.  He was a hard working, generous, loving Father and a tireless support to his family and friends.  His close-knit family was rewarded by his loving care, excellent example, wonderful sense of humour and mild manner.

Ottar is survived by his children:  Berit (Mike Kueppers), Kirsten Jones, Esther (Robert Noble), Heidi (Michael Losier), Stein (Lynda Hartmann) and grandchildren:  Brent, Simon, Lee, Nick, Jordan, Kirsten, Alexandra, Mitchell, Zackery and great grandchildren:  Samuel, Noah, Ari, Beatrix, Charlotte, Jack, Ellie and Isla.

Special thanks to Dawn Thomas (caregiver), Dr. Ginnette Griffin and extra-mural nurses for making his last years comfortable and peaceful.  We also greatly appreciate the ongoing love and support of our family and dear friends in the Rothesay Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

We are confident Ottar is resting peacefully in our Creator’s loving memory and look forward to seeing him in perfect health very soon in the resurrection on our paradise earth.

Arrangements entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB.   A Memorial Service will be held via Zoom at a later date.
