Odette Totten (Guignard-Nicolle) Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Odette Marie (Guignard-Nicolle) Totten wish to announce her passing which occurred on May 10, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 7, 1945, Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Chaisson) Guignard.

She is survived by her sons; Bruce (Sue), Russell (Jackie), Daniel (Elizabeth) and Stanley (Jenny), her daughter Darlene (Carl) LaViollete, grandchildren; Matthew Nicolle, Allison MacEachern, Sean and Ryan LaViollete, Brittany, Becky and Katie Nicolle, Nicolas Nicolle, Sybil Nicolle, Vanessa and Tara Lizotte, great-grandchildren; Luke Nicolle and Myla Perrin, brother, Davie Guignard, sisters; Jeanette Griffin, Annie Roy, Susan Michaud, and Simone MacDougall, along with many cousins and relatives.

Besides her parents Mary and Joseph Guignard, she was predeceased by her first husband Clarence Nicolle, son James Nicolle, and her second husband Lorne Totten.

Odette, having her children young, was a loving and caring mother who enjoyed swimming, sliding, and camping with her kids. Her most important thing in life was her children.

While raising a large family, mom worked as a chief cook for Saint john Airport , ran her own grocery store , and found her true passion  working with children with special needs as a school bus attendant for Saint John School Board.

She was an outgoing woman who looked forward to having her weekly card games with Marion and the Quispamsis ladies. She had a strong passion for Bingo and will be sadly missed by her Bingo buddies. She enjoyed her trips to the Casino with her friends and sister. She also looked forward to the ladies yearly camping trip. She enjoyed dancing and going to horse shows. Mom was an amazing cook who could make an excellent meal out of anything. What made her most happy was to have big dinners with many people stuffed in a small space.
