With broken hearts, the family of Norman Joseph Brien announces his passing, which occurred on October 11, 2025, at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late John and Margaret Brien.
Norman was a kind and caring man, known for his easygoing nature and warm personality. He had a gift for conversation and could make friends wherever he went. His sense of humor, compassion, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He dedicated 39 years of his career to Irving Pulp and Paper, working in the Tech Department, where he was respected for his strong work ethic.
A proud member of the 30 Up Club, Norman enjoyed a full and active life. He loved traveling, camping, fishing, and woodworking, and found great joy in giving back as a volunteer at Kings Church. He was also an avid reader, especially western novels.
Norman will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 31 years, Bonnie Brien; his sons John Brien (Kim), Jody Brien, and Charles Rene Poirier; his daughters Terry Lynn Cyr, Susan Dorey, and Denise Mullin (Carl); and his cherished grandchildren Tara Cyr, Stacey Cyr (Josh), Andrew Mullin (Breannah), Matthew Mullin, Veronica Kane, Devan Poirier, Ben Poirier, and Emily Poirier.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his great-grandchildren McKayla Plume, Jaxon Plume, Jazzlynn Plume, Kaylee Thibodeau, Abbie Thibodeau, and Felix Mullin; his brother Donald Brien (Carol); his sister Jean Morand; as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends Ron Lester, Gail Foster, and Janice Ross.
Norman was predeceased by his parents, his son Norman Brien Jr., and his sister Dianne Taylor.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). A graveside service will be held at a later date.
