Nina May Durning

It is with profound sadness that the family of Nina May Durning wish to announce her passing that occurred on August 23, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born in Saint John, January 24, 1942.  She was the daughter of the late Thompson and Edith (Garnett) Durning.

 Nina graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1960.  She became an underwriter in the insurance industry, before joining the Government of Canada as a caseworker with the Unemployment Insurance Program, until she retired.  She enjoyed TV bingo, radio bingo and the shopping channel. Nina loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces.  They enjoyed many shopping excursions and trips, especially Calais.  Nina will always be remembered for her wonderful Christmas Eve gatherings surrounded by all her family.   

She is survived by her very best friend Edna Cameron, her former husband Roy McKinney, her special nieces Eva Christiansen and Edith Kaye, her sister-in-law (Peggy) Margaret Durning.  as well as her many nieces, nephews and a close circle of friends who all held a special place in Nina’s heart.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Robert ‘Bordie’ (her twin), James and William, sisters Florence Hachey and Joan Cook, sister-in-law Margaret Durning, Dorothy Durning and brother-in-law Walter Cook.

Following cremation, visitation will take place at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424), from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.  The funeral service will be held in the Fundy Chapel at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society; the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
