Nelson W. Getson

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Nelson Wesley Getson, which occurred at The Civic Hospital in Ottawa, ON, on Friday, October 24th, 2025.  Born on April 17th, 1987, in Saint John, NB, he is the son of Carol Dickison (Mike) and Nelson Getson (Carolyn).

Nelson worked for Getson Contracting & Roofing. He was a kind and loyal man and definitely a mama’s boy.  He loved cars, children, transport trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles.  Nelson was very talented with his hands.  He enjoyed roofing and would work for free to help anyone in need.  He had the biggest heart and when you became his friend, you were friends for life.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Nelson is survived by his cherished sons Ethan and Owen of Ontario; beloved daughter Sophia of Ontario; brother Trevor McKinney (Patti) of Saint John; sisters Amanda McKinney and Cara McKinney of Saint John; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Nelson was predeceased by his infant sister Jodi.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, November 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m.  A Memorial Service will take place in the Fundy chapel on Tuesday, November 4th at 10:30 a.m. followed by an interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Donations in memory of Nelson, may be made to Addiction Services or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
