Welcome to the memorial page for

Neely C. Gillcrist

September 4, 2013
The passing of Miss Neely C. Gillcrist of Saint John occurred unexpectedly at her residence on September 4th.  She was possessed of a special soul, never more vibrant than when she was at ‘home in her hills’ at Hanford Brook.  Neely was most at ease in the forest, and was constantly attended by her hand feeding squirrels, chipmunks, chickadees and her chief kindred spirit, ‘Beaker’ The Nuthatch who is with her now across the river.  She
was an artist, a musician, a wit and finally as much a source of joy for her family and friends as is possible in this life.

In recent years Neely found fulfillment and joy through her affiliation with StormScapeLive.tv, an online site which followed tornado chasers through the American Midwest, culminating this past July in her 12 day participation in a multi-state tour following storms.  We are so grateful for her having had this opportunity, made possible by Mr. Michael Phelps and her many friends so associated.

She is survived by her Fiancé, Nicholas Lowe of Saint John, her Father Paul (Sandra) of Orange Hill, Mother Sheree (Declan) of Dublin Ireland, Brother Ben of Hanford Brook, Grandmothers Marjorie of St. Martins and Alma of The Loch Lomond Villa, several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends, and by feline friends Samus and Cassidy.  Predeceased by her Grandfathers Lawrence Gillcrist, Lloyd King and by Uncle and Aunt Michael and Cindy Gillcrist.

In our grief and sorrow, we are reminded of these lines by Don McLean: “…but I could have told you Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.”  We love you for always, Neely.  TWC Forever (Dad). I Love you Wubbins (Nick).
