An angel was called home too soon. I only had a brief meeting with Neely at St. Malachy's High school, but she left her mark on me and I will never forget this sweet child. I have passed her home several times this summer and fondly mentioned her to my husband. I am saddened to hear of her passing. Dear Sheree

Would like to share a poem with you that my friend Bryon wrote many years ago

" A Flower "
As I stand on the beach of the creator's paradise
The creator looking back into my eyes
I sent one last prayer in my darkest hours
He showed me his love in the form of a flower

I heard his voice " don't be afraid my friend "
Take this flower and it will make you young again
As I took the flower I began to understand
My soul returns to heaven and my body back to sand.

As I stood on the beach of the creator's paradise
I looked at the scenes of my life and I soon realized
That he was there with me from the beginning to my end.
The he gave me a flower and I took his hand.

I cannot not even begin to feel the pain you have .  My thoughts are with you

Nick and the Gillchrist Family,

Myself and family wish to offer you our deepest condolences in the wake of this tragedy. 'Suddenly' is one of the worst ways for things like this to occur. While I only knew Neely a little through Nick and Facebook, I always knew I could count on her for insight into weather and nature  Anyone who had the privilege of being acquainted with her - even a little bit- is going to remember her fondly, especially on nice seasonal days when nature is on display. I only hope that you use your happiest memories of Neely to give you strength through these times and all times.

It was beautiful as long as it lasted
The journey of my life.
I have no regrets whatsoever
Save the pain I'll leave behind.
Those dear hearts who love and care...
And the strings pulling at the heart and soul...
The strong arms that held me up
When my own strength let me down.
At every turning of my life I came across good friends,
Friends who stood by me,
Even when the time raced me by.
Farewell, farewell, my friends
I smile and bid you goodbye.
No, shed no tears for I need them not
All I need is your smile.
If you feel sad do think of me
For that's what I'll like when you live in the hearts
Of those you love, remember then
You never die.

I went to the StormScape Live site, because my sister was in a horrible storm, and I worried about her.  As the months started seeing more and more storm activity I would go to the site quite often.  Neely is the first person I met there, and she was always kind to me.  When Moore Oklahoma was hit on the 20th, I live in Oklahoma City, she was very kind and understanding along with many other members from SSL, and less than two weeks later, when we were hit again, I felt like I would have a nervous break down.  But Neely was so kind, and her words of wisdom helped me appreciate what we had lived through and helped me smile again.  I'm so so sad to hear she's left this physical world.  I wish I had known her longer, but I am blessed to have known her at all.  My prayers and thoughts are with Nick and her family and friends.  I always thought of her as sweet sweet Neely.  I'm going to miss her so much.

She passed away like morning dew
Before the sun was high;
So brief her time, she scarcely knew
The meaning of a sigh.

As round the rose its soft perfume,
Sweet love around her floated;
Admired she grew-while mortal doom
Crept on, unfeared, unnoted.

Love was her guardian Angel here,
But Love to Death resigned her;
Though Love was kind, why should we fear
But holy Death is kinder?

With our deepest sympathy

The loss of a loved one is hard to bare taken to soon, and so unfair.

The hurt and sorrow, when they depart tears a piece, straight from your heart.

Nothing can stop the hurt you feel, or where to start, or if it’s real.

Only time can heal the pain,

And good memories will help you to smile again.

Who was Neely Gilchrist?
To me Neely was the glue that binded us all together  on Storm Scape Live.
Never a day went by that she didn't think of all the friends she had. A kind word, a quick hello.
A genuine concern for a friend that can't be faked or imitated. I never met Neely in person,
something I deeply regret because now it's not possible for a while.
She knew every quick witted comback to posts I made. She even understood my dry humor and often
knew the punchline in advance to feed the next joke setup. She would have been the perfect host for a radio broadcast
and probably anything she put her mind to.
In the internet era we make new friends a little different sometimes and Neely was a shining example of that to me.
For the first time in my life I felt loss for someone I never met in person. So much so that it has dominated my thoughts and actions.
I'm more passive, humbled in a sense. Kinder.
We try and choose who we let into our inner circle in life with a guarded heart.
The internet can be a scary place. Neely was proof positive that good people exist out there.
Neely was diplomatic. Someone people felt comfortable with.
Watching her feed the birds is permanently etched in my mind.
Friends of Storm Scape Live.TV will miss you so much dear friend.
We all owe you a debt that can never be repaid.
You were truly loved by us all.
God be with you Kid.
We miss you

About 16 months ago, I discovered StormScapeLive while I was checking out online storm chasers who were streaming live video. When I joined the group, I immediately became friends with one of the wittiest ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. We very quickly became friends and when I booked my tour I found out that she was also going on the same trip. But over the course of the year, she became ill, and that illness mystified her doctors who could not come up with a proper diagnosis nor a treatment that would help. It seemed that every thing they tried, her body would not accept. But God Bless her, she hung in there and willed herself to be healthy enough for the trip. And as everyone knows, it was the trip of a lifetime for both of us.

Unfortunately, her time here on earth was not to be long. On Wednesday, September 4th, Neely was called home to heaven where I picture here sitting in the grass, leaning up against a rock with a choir of birds chirping and fighting for the seeds in her hands, while the squirrels and chipmunks patiently wait their turn. Neely Gillcrist had a special gift with animals and I'm sure that is why she was called home. Someone needs to tend to them and I know she will love every minute of it.

My dear friend I bid you peace and a healthy ever after in heaven.

Ben,
It is with a heavy heart that send these condolences.  I have many fond memories of Neely from her days at the St. Martins School.  She always had a ready smile and a thirst for knowledge.  I remember her talking to John Cairns about Stan Rogers and telling him he should be listening to his music.  We have lost a gentle soul and heaven has gained an amazing angel. I'm sure Neely is playing with all the heavenly animals and birds and watching the storms from above.   May you take comfort in all the wonderful memories you have of Neely and remember this is not goodbye but merely so long until you meet again.

I grew to enjoy our chats through Stormscapelive, as well as through FB. She was the first one to say hello when I would log on and always made me smile and laugh with her great sense of humor.
