Nancy Jean Lapointe

With family and friends by her side, Nancy Jean Lapointe passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home in Saint John NB. Born in London, Ontario, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth and Jean (Nicholson) Hicks.

Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Melanie Lapointe (Eric Bowman) and Lauren Lapointe, who were her pride and joy.

Nancy dedicated more than 25 years of her life to teaching, taking great pride in sharing knowledge with her students. She especially loved teaching French as a second language and during her retirement years found deep fulfillment in tutoring children from other countries.

An avid traveler, Nancy especially cherished trips to visit her daughters in Northern California, and Savannah, Georgia. At home, she found joy in birdwatching. When she wasn’t watching the birds, she would be tending to her gardens or taking in a good book, she also could often be found in the kitchen baking for friends and family—most famously her beloved Blueberry Bran muffins. Nancy was truly a foodie at heart.

Nancy’s generous spirit shone through in all she did. She was intelligent, fiercely independent, and deeply compassionate. Alongside her faithful dog, Biscuit, she volunteered her time visiting seniors in nursing homes, bringing comfort and companionship to others.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home for the care and kindness shown to Nancy over the past several months, and especially to Brenda Thibodeau and Sharon Furey, who were so often by her side.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Those wishing to honor Nancy’s memory may make a donation to the charity of their choice.
