Murray Edward Piers

It is with heavy hearts and sorrow to announce the passing of Murray Edward Piers October 31,1935 - January 5, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Murray was known as Joe to some, Dad, and Grampie. Murray was born in Lakeside to his parents, Harold and Marjorie (Mosher) Piers.

Murray worked for many years as the owner and operator of Piers Building Materials Ltd. and later moved to the Belleisle and started up Piers Marine.  Murray loved the outdoors, whether is was boating, snowmobiling or a building project.  He was one of the founding members of the Belleisle Bay Yacht Club and organized the Erbs Cove snowmobile races, and he volunteered as an auxiliary RCMP  officer.  Murray loved his family and adored his children and grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed by all. 

Murray is survived by his wife Barbara Hartt-Piers, Daughters, Heather Piers, Keltie Piers-Pharand (Garth); step children, Patty Merserau-Marshall, Jay Mersereau (Sheri), Robin Mersereau-Kerr (Mark); grandchildren, Kayle Mather, Farren Mather, Katie Kerr, Maddison Kerr, Baylee Marshall, Nate Marshall, Morgan Mersereau, Alyssa Mersereau and Nicole Mersereau; Great granddaughter, Scotia Mather; Brother, Vernon Piers (Karen); nephew, Trevor Piers (Angela) and Niece, Jillian Cormier (Mark) along with several great nieces and nephews and many friends. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where cremation will take place.  A family graveside service will take place in the spring at Hampton Rural Cemetery.  For those who wish, memorial donations in Murray’s memory made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
