Muriel Richard

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Muriel Mable Margaret (Hodgin) Richard which occurred peacefully at her home on Friday, May 10th, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.  Born 1935, in Bloomfield, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Adair) Hodgin.  Muriel was a long time Parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church and a faithful member of the Legion of Mary.  She was patient, hardworking, faithful, devoted and kind.  Her children, grandchildren, family and friends experienced her unconditional love, and Muriel never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special event. 

Muriel is survived by her husband Alyre Richard of Saint John; sons Paul Richard (Kim St. Pierre) of Willow Grove, Raymond Richard of Willow Grove, Mark Richard of Saint John; daughters Claudette Miller (Randy) of Saint John, Denise Lackie (Wayne Hackett) of Willow Grove, Rose LaFleur (Lou) of Fredericton, Andrea Richard (Mike) of Whitby, ON, Anita MacEachern (Derek) of Whitby, ON; sisters Barbara Sands of Nauwigewauk, NB, Carolyn Gilchrist of Norton; grandchildren Danny, Cory, Michael, Megan, Jeff, Jocelyn, Josh, Nicole, Matt, Evan, Gillian, Colin, Adrian, Kate, Clara, Diane, Vickey, Allie and Tiffany; great grandchildren Olivia, Jayda, Josiah and Bella Jean; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her brothers Murray, Harold, Bernard, and Kenneth; sisters Marion, Pauline, Madeline, Genevieve, and Mildred.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, May 13th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (4347 Loch Lomond Road) on Tuesday, May 14th at 12 noon.  Interment will take place at St. Alphonse’s Cemetery at a later date.  Donations in memory of Muriel may be made to the HOPE Center or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
