With much sadness the family of Monique Richard-Scribner announce her unexpected death. Taken from us far too soon, we are left with a deep void in our hearts. She was born in New Brunswick and later moved with her family to Alberta, where she built a wonderful life full of warmth. Though she returned to her roots in New Brunswick for several years, Alberta once again became home in her final chapter.
Monique is lovingly survived by her children of Fort McMurray: Michael Scribner, Suzanne Barry, and Kurtis Scribner; her cherished grandchildren, Linden and Mia; her siblings Yvon (Emily) of Quispamsis, Francine Bull (Tony) of Fredericton, Eric (Lori) of Hampton, and Claude (Rachelle) of Gatineau; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will also be fondly remembered by her dear sister-in-law Bonnie Rankin, her brothers-in-law Brian (Natalie) Reid, Allan (Heidi) Reid, Blaine’s son Kyle (Gen) Reid, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, her first husband and father of her children, Joe Scribner, and her many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Alcide and Rose-Aline, Monique was predeceased by her common-law husband, Blaine Reid.
Monique took the greatest pride in her children and grandchildren, who were her heart and joy. She loved all children deeply and always took time to play, listen, and make them feel loved. Monique was a true example of how to love unconditionally — never judging, always accepting, and showing her heart of gold to everyone she met. Monique had a special way with words and often expressed her love through heartfelt poems written for those dearest to her. She worked for many years in the paint department at Home Hardware, where she took great pride in her work and built lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike.
She had a zest for life and a spirit of adventure — whether traveling, exploring new places, or simply joining in whatever her family wanted to try, Monique was always ready with enthusiasm and courage. She and Blaine shared countless joyful adventures together, from camping trips and hot air balloon festivals to concerts and spontaneous getaways. Monique especially loved playing cards — “Tens” was a family favourite — and those games were always filled with laughter and teasing. As a mother, she nurtured her children with love, support, and dedication, ensuring they were involved in activities, sports, and family moments. Her children will forever remember her as their constant source of patience, understanding, and unconditional love, and will carry her lessons in kindness and compassion throughout their lives.
