It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Michael Arthur O’Brien which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021. Born 1941, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Arthur and Edna (Larson) O’Brien. Mike worked as an Electrician with IBEW Local 502 throughout his career. He was a member of Legion #2 and enjoyed spending time at his camp on Terreo Lake.
Mike is survived by his loving and devoted wife Barbara (Gould) of 33 years; sons Joseph O’Brien of Saint John, Douglas O’Brien, Sean O’Brien (Jeanette) of Calgary, AB; step-children Harold Leblanc (Debbie), Karen Cotton and Christine Leblanc; 5 brothers; 4 sisters, grandchildren Clare and Stanton; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Mike was predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue, Children’s Wish Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
