Michael "Mike" S.D. Patterson

   With heavy hearts, the family of Mike Patterson announces his passing, which occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Mike was born in Saint John on June 13, 1958; the son of Diane (Richards) Clark and the late Stewart Patterson, and the loving husband of Laurie (Neumann) Patterson. Along with his mother Diane, and wife Laurie of 41 years, he is survived by his son Luke, sisters Sandra and Susan. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special mention to cousin Brent Grant, Joe Ness and neighbourhood walking buddy Bev Nesbit, as well as Michael’s extended family roots from Belleisle, Saint John and Arnprior. Mike was predeceased by his father, Stewart, grandparents and recent passing of Dale Morris and Ruth Whipple.

   Mike graduated from Saint John High in 1976, served in the Canadian Forces then became Meat Manager of the West side Co-op. Later moved on to Key Industries where he flourished in his role as facilitator. Mike adored the clients and staff; they became his second family. He enjoyed the early morning gatherings, analyzing and solving world events with his double double. Mike could turn any situation from bad to good with his dry, witty sense of humour.  Loved the competition of the game of lawn bowling, curling and hunting. Winning was his ultimate goal. Mike had an amazing memory for historical detail, and he was a fantastic storyteller. His truck and garage were his escape and refuge.

The family would like to thank all of the staff, Dr Wildish and Dr O'Brien of the palliative care unit for their love, kindness, and care of our dear Mike during this difficult time.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). There will be no visitation or services at this time, and interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated
