Michael Stafford

It is with love and remembrance that we share the peaceful passing of Michael Stafford on March 11, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Michael is now reunited with his beloved wife of 50 years, Roberta (nee. Gilnick) Stafford.

Born on September 19, 1933, in Cardiff, South Wales in the United Kingdom, he was a son of the late Edward Wren and Vera (nee. Turpin) Stafford.

Michael is survived by his loving children: Gareth (Heather) Stafford, Kristine (David) Jarrell, Rosemary Pahl, and David (Helen) Stafford; beloved grandchildren: Hilory, Ethan, Nickolas, Celie, Matthew, Ailish, Finnian, Niamh, Seamus, and Milo; several adoring great-grandchildren; sister Cherry Pryke; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, and his wife Roberta, Michael was also predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Lauren.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Michael spent 28 years as an electrician with Irving Paper. Earlier in life, he proudly served as a Merchant Navy sailor, a role that reflected his sense of pride and commitment.

Outside of his career, Michael found joy in spending time with his family he loved deeply. He also enjoyed reading, traveling, and watching the English Football League. Michael and Roberta were both animal lovers, having many cats and dogs over their lifetime together.

An avid golfer for over 30 years, Michael had a passion for golf that grew stronger when he retired. Any chance he got, Michael would head to the course to play a round. He was first a member of the Welsford Golf and Country Club and later on, Rockwood Golf and Country Club.

In respecting Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
