Michael Erickson

“How could I ever forget you?” were the last words spoken to Caroline, his loving wife. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael Erickson announces his passing at Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 28th.

Mike was born on December 24th, 1955. In his words, “almost a Christmas baby!” He was born in Yorkshire, England to Margaret (nee Thorpe) and Thomas Edward Erickson.  He was the loving husband and best friend of Caroline Erickson (Kincade) for 47 years. He was a proud father to Robert (Amanda), Jeremy (Marie-Claire) and Melodie (Tomas Jimenez Pineda). He was also a proud Grampy to Eva, Hadyn, Vaughn and Isabel. He will be missed by his sister Barbara (Rick) Corbin, his brother Paul Erickson, and sister-in-law Judy (Blake) Brodersen. Uncle Mike will also be missed by Kaleb Corbin, Garrett, and Etta Brodersen.

Mike was a man of many talents. He made many lifelong friends in the local drag-racing scene. He was a “Mr. Fix-it Man” who was always willing to help and lend a hand to anyone who needed it.  This included being the personal mechanic, repairman, plumber, electrician, advisor, etc.… for his children’s houses and cars.  He was a dedicated member of the Saint John Y’s Men’s Club for the last five years where he enjoyed being the cook and blackjack dealer for their fundraiser casinos. He always prided himself on getting good deals on meat for a Sunday roast beef dinner which would be accompanied by Yorkshire Puddings and fresh vegetables from his own garden.

Mike was a proud dad. Without hesitation, he would support the interests of his kids from baseball and music classes when they were young to later when they established their careers. He told everyone who would listen about their accomplishments in life.

Caroline and Mike had such a fun life together, especially their winters in Florida where they made many friends and precious memories.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
