Melvin James Hooper

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Melvin James Hooper announces his passing on August 9, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, Melvin was the beloved son of the late William and Albertine (Gautreau) Hooper.

Melvin lived life on his own terms, embracing simple pleasures and finding joy in gardening, movies, and watching wrestling. He will be remembered for his unique spirit and the love he shared with those around him. Melvin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his spouse, Janet Hooper; his children Tanya, Karen, Ashley, and Lisa; his stepsons Mark and Michael; his brother William Hooper (Sandra); sister Theresa Hooper; grandchildren Lacey, Camden, Jaxson, Olivia, Hayley, Hazel, Maxwell and Zachary; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Melvin was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Edward (Bella), Ronald (Dianne), Donald LeRoy, and Armand; and his sisters Janet (George) and Melvina (Norman).

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home on Friday, August 15, 2025, between the hours of 12:00 – 2:15 p.m. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery following the visitation.
