Maurice "Moe" Hachey

It is with broken hearts that the family of Maurice “Moe” Hachey, beloved husband of Dawn Flann, announce his unexpected passing on April 15, 2023. Born in Saint John on August 5, 1959, he was the son of Jeremie and the late Germaine (Cyr) Hachey.

Maurice, better known as “Moe” to his friends, was a kind-hearted person who would have literally given you the shirt off his back – whether you were a friend or a complete stranger. An avid Montreal Canadian fan, Moe was a strong-willed man who carried a heart as big as the sky can be seen. Hard worker could be considered an understatement where Moe was concerned, but when he found the time to be in his element, be it sitting around a fire, in a canoe fishing, or a duck blind for hours, it was Moe living out his passions - even if he came home empty handed. As he would say: “It is what it is”. He will be immensely missed by those who surrounded him, including his best fur buddy Apollo.

Besides his wife of 29 years Dawn and his father Jeremie, Moe is survived by his brothers: Wayne (Karen) Hachey and Mark Hachey; sister: Penny Nichols; nieces and nephews: Aimee (Corey) McNamara, Shane Hachey (Nichole MacNeill), Krystal (Todd) Logan, Alicia Nichols, Keean (Dustie) Hachey, Kory (Sly) Hachey, Markie-Lee Hachey, Brandon (Jess) Conway, Terrene (Mike) Conway, and Tyler (Rhonda) Prince; and great-nephews: Caden, Ben, Rowen, Ryland, and Isaac.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Moe’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial donations to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by family.
