Mary "Betty" Elizabeth (Swain) Gallery

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Gallery, wife of Robert Gallery announces her passing which occurred on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Palliative Care Unit SJRH, surrounded by her family. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Jennie May (Cook) Swain. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers William (Dorothy), John (Carol), Gregory and Donald Swain (Zita); sisters-in-law Vera Swain, Veronica Frigault (Fernand) and Sally Bezeau.

Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Bob; son Randy Gallery of Hamilton, ON, daughter Stacey Lee (Jerry) of Windsor, ON; three grandchildren Laura, Michael and Matthew; brother Jerry Swain of Bridgewater, NS; sister Patricia Daley (Malcom) of Saint John; sister-in-law  Lorraine Swain of Miramichi; sisters-in-law Donna Bent (the late Wendal), Mary-Ellen Gallery, Connie Gallant (Jerry), Helen Hayward (Brian) and Cathy Benoit (Armand); brother-in-law Johnny Gallery (Dallan); several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Betty was a member of St. Joachim’s Church, serving on the CWL and teaching Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed many evenings playing BINGO with her friends. Her passion was to be a loving and devoted wife and mother. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Monday, October 8 from 2 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Betty may be made to New Brunswick Lung Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
