Mum passed peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by family.
Mary Young (nee. Brennan) was originally from Charlottetown, PEI. Moving from one Island to another, she married and raised her children on Deer Island. She moved to Saint John in the early 90’s, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Mary is survived by her daughters Julia Young, Suzanne Young Banks (Karl); son Craig Young (Andrea); grandchildren: Bronwyn Gray (Adam), Brady & Cassidy Banks, and Sam & Sydney Young; close friend Judy VanTassel, who spent many years of companionship and treasured memories; sister Judy Conway (Richard); brothers Bob Brennan (Rose), and Jim Brennan (Mary); as well as numerous extended family members. Mary was predeceased by her son Paul Bates Young, the father of her children Gary Young, and her parents Bill & Connie Brennan.
If there was a long way to get somewhere in the city, she knew it. It was a running joke that she’d make sure to take us on a sightseeing tour. Which she adamantly referred to as the easiest way to get there.
These last few months Mum has spent a lot of time at Rockwood Park with her daughters and grandchildren, feeding the ducks and geese, and collecting feathers.
She took pleasure in learning and was very keen on geography. Mum was an avid reader and had an exceptional vocabulary. She had a love for all animals, most especially Dachshunds.
A special thank you to Susan B & Jennifer from Bayshore. Our family appreciates your kindness and dedication.
Mum will be missed, and we truly hope she finds peace.
