Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Edith Revie

January 5, 1924 ~ November 2, 2012 (age 88) 88 Years Old
“The day of death is when two worlds meet with a kiss: this world going out, the future world coming in.”  J. B. Abin.
Leaving the company of her children gathered round her, today, November 2, 2012 at Embassy Hall, Shannex, our beautiful mother, Mary Edith (Greig) Revie slipped away to rejoin her husband of sixty years, our wonderful father, John Steele Revie (2004).
Mom was born in Saint John, N.B., on January 5, 1924, the only child of Herbert and Florence (McManemin) Greig. She grew up on Russell Street which as Mom said, “…wasn’t paved, had trees and lots of places to play, and slide, and skate, and ride my horse…”. Russell Street remained her lifelong home.
Our mother attended St. Vincent’s Girls High School from where she graduated in 1941 and with which she continued a relationship as an alumnae member all her life.
Following her marriage to Dad in 1944, four children arrived: Robert, Saint John; Mary Anne Griffin (Gary), Moncton; Greig (Tina), Hanover, Ontario; and Catherine Chandler (William (deceased)), St. Andrews.
Family life was fine but Mom wanted a challenge so she joined the City Hall Staff where she enjoyed a career for thirty-five years, many of them in a supervisory role.
Mom loved a party. She had a very social nature and thoroughly enjoyed family parties and events with friends. The “girls” with whom she had remained friends all her life will miss her humour and love of fun.
As grandchildren arrived, she was thrilled plus she had an excuse for more shopping. Heather Hundley, Patrick Griffin, Michelle Revie, Malinda Watt, Michael Griffin, and Katie MacDonald were the recipients of her shopping “finds”! Our mother was also very fond of her step-grandchildren, John Chandler, Patricia Silverthorne, and Stuart Chandler. She was also fortunate enough to welcome four great-grandchildren into the world, Chloe and Cassandra Hundley, Xavier Griffin, and Isaac MacDonald.
Dad and Mom loved to travel and gave us many happy experiences on the road as children. Following retirement, Mom and Dad widened their horizons and travelled overseas extensively as well as wintering in Myrtle Beach. Our mother lived a full life for which we are thankful but we will miss her very much. In her own words, “I was really blessed that God was so good to me.”
Rest in peace, Mom!
