Mary Gillespie Obituary

With deep sadness, the family of Mary Jean (Kilpatrick) Gillespie announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 9, 2024, at the age of 75. Born in Saint John, on  September 4, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Ora and Jean (Thompson) Kilpatrick, predeceased by her husband Michael Gillespie and her son Kirk Jardine.

Mary is survived by her son, John Burke (Melanie) of Quispamsis, and her sister, Dawn Dugay (Edward) of Erbs Cove. She will also be missed by her cherished granddaughter, Taylor Burke, grandson, Alex Burke, step-granddaughter, Emilee, step-great-grandson, Levi, niece, Kelly Dugay, and nephew, Paul Dugay, she is also survived by Aunts and several cousins.

Mary found joy in simple pleasures like gardening and cooking, living a fulfilling life. She worked for 39 years at Nortel, member of the C.A.W. union, she had a special love for dogs especially her two, Snuggles and Aros; and enjoyed their companionship. She resided at Yvonne’s Special Care Home since April 2024, where she formed meaningful connections with all caregivers, especially Flavia and Amanda.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). A graveside service will take place at St. Barnabas Anglican Cemetery in Barnesville, NB, at 1:00pm on Thursday November 14,2024 officiated by Rev. David Barrett. For those wishing to honor Mary’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Barnabas Cemetery.
