Mary Cossaboom Obituary

We sadly announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary Louise (Baker) Cossaboom, after a courageous battle with melanoma on our late father's birthday, April 6, 2026. Mary was born June 7, 1942 to the late Regina (Whelly) Baker and James Frederick Baker. She was a loving wife of 61 years to the late Winston Cossaboom, who passed away in December 2025.

Mary worked for many years at the Superstore, retiring from the Bayview Credit Union tax department. She enjoyed many summers at Pirate's Cove campground on the BelleIsle with family and friends.

As a devoted Christian, Mary attended church faithfully throughout her life and forged many deep and lasting friendships at Fundamental Baptist Church over the past number of years.

Mary is survived by daughter Tammy Landry (late Kevin), son Scott Cossaboom (Michelle), and daughter Lisa Weir (Graeme). She is also survived by grandchildren Kerrin, Keith, Kendra, Stephen, Ryan, Kyle, Kennedy, and ten great grandchildren, all of whom adored their Nana very much.

She is also survived by sisters Lois Arsenault (Bob) and Helen Martin (late Robert), brothers-in-law Gerald (Jennette), Stephen (Heather), Hugh McNeill, and Bill Mourik as well as sister-in-law Joan Blair (John). She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews including a special niece that was like a third daughter to her, Leona Johnson. She also sends a warm thank you to her special friend of 75 years, Joanne Vincent (Frank).

In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother Charles Baker, brother-in-law Robert Martin, and sisters-in-law Lenna McNeill and Thelma Mourik.

Mary and her family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. Bridget Tutschka, the KV Extra-Mural team, including Dr. Christian Mackin and our 'angel' nurses Jennifer and Megan, to her special homecare worker Whitney, the staff at Sobeys Pharmacy in Rothesay, and to the many friends and family for their visits, calls, food, and prayers.
