Mary Bernice Basque of Saint John NB, passed away on August 5th, 2026 at Bobbys Hospice at the age of 71.
Born in Tracadie, NB on Oct 11, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Donat and Julia (McLaughlin) Basque. She started her life in Newcastle, NB and on to Saint John, NB.
Bernice was a lifetime member of the Buffalo Club and then on to the Adanac. She devoted her life and took great pride in being a Home Care Worker as a PSW.
Donat and Julia raised nine children, Bernice was the oldest, her eight siblings which she loved dearly, all stayed by her side with such love and compassion, Donnie (Sheila) Basque, Pat (Tim) Budd, Sandra (Darrell) Voutour, Odie (Blake) Hillman, Barb (Brian) Doucette, Melinda (Ronald) Benoit, Sharon Henderson, Ricky (Carol) Basque.
Family was everything to her and she took great pride in her children, Nicole (Brian Stanley) Lanteigne, Denise (Adam) Ramsay, Henry Jr (Tabitha) Lanteigne. The father of her children Henry (Lori) Lanteigne and his siblings Joe (Gerry) Lanteigne, Geraldine Gallant, Norma Comeau.
She also loved her grandchildren with her whole heart, Matthew, Kayla (Matt), Kelsey (Nate), JP, Jessica (Jesse), Emily (Josh), Alex and Abigail.
Then came along her precious great-grandchildren she called her babies, Jordan, Arthur, Carter, Lily, Scarlett, Harper, Oliver, Sawyer and Gracie.
Bernice was blessed to have goddaughters Charlene Dickens & Lisa Collette and godson Jason Benoit.
She truly cherished all her Nieces and nephews,
Carrie, Jenne (Donnie), Jimmy (Lisa), Andrew (Amanda), Colleen (Justin), Julieanne (Nick), Brad (Christa), Jeffrey (Mary), Charlene (Brad), Christopher, Jason, Ryan (Katie), Chelsea, Adam (Alicia) & Ashley, as well as their children.
She leaves behind a big family she loved dearly and will always be watching over.
Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by an infant sister Karen Basque, her children’s grandparents Joe & Yvonne Lanteigne as well as her sister in law Laura Robichaud who she always stay connected to.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506)-646-2424. Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM until a celebration of life service being held at 2:00 PM from the Fundy Chapel.
