Martin Egbert Cyr

July 30, 1926 ~ July 20, 2012 (age 85) 85 Years Old
With sadness the family announce the passing of Martin Egbert Cyr, loving husband of Jeannine (Martin) Cyr, which occurred on Friday July 20, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born 1926 in Edmundston, NB he was the son of the late Belonie and Annie (Pike) Cyr. Martin started his career at Frasers Pulp and Paper in Newcastle and later worked as a Technical Director for Irving Pulp and Paper in Saint John until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to many associations including the Professional Engineering Society of NB, the Canadian Pulp & Paper Industry and the Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his family. Besides his wife Jeannine, he is survived by his sons Karl (Roseline) Cyr of Calgary, AB, Gregory (Diane) Cyr of Saint John; daughters Diana (Gordon) O’Sullivan and Jane (Timothy) Cyr both of Vancouver, BC;  grandchildren Lisa, Jocelyn, Jeffrey, Renee and Jillian; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Donald and O’Neil Cyr and sisters Freda Allain, Evelyn Cyr and Hilla Bourgois.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday July 22, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday July 23, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
