Martha Halpin Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Martha Halpin (Martin) which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday July 6, 2022.

Martha Alberta Halpin (Martin) was born on November 19, 1961 in Saint John. She was the only daughter and the youngest of four children to her beloved parents, Bill and Alberta Martin. Growing up on the west side where she believed to be the best side, Martha was a lively spirit since the day she was born. Holding her own with the older brothers, Bruce, Paul and Peter Martin all while crafting a lifetime of mischievous memories together.

Her mother Alberta extended a love of crafting a home by passing on a cooking skillset that Martha acquired and invited the entire family and neighbourhood to nourish on.

In the 80’s, while working at a hotel front desk, she and her best friend Joanne met brothers that they ended up marrying. On June 1, 1985 Martha married Lloyd Halpin. They truly were the best of friends for 33 years, running a successful construction company and raising 3 children, Brittany Kitchen (Jeff), Steve Halpin (Chelsey), Rachel Halpin (Gerard) and 2 grandchildren, Clark and Karis.

Martha was a familiar face and voice volunteering at her childrens’ schools by putting the fun in “Fun Days” for both students and teachers who always looked forward to her uplifting nature.

After Lloyd’s untimely death in 2018, Martha moved to Rothesay in what she described as her jewel box of a home where she cultivated a love for hiking alongside her children’s four Goldendoodles, while welcoming old and new friends to her doorstep.
